I started my working life as a journalist in the fading days of Fleet Street, then was tempted in house. Using my writing and message-crafting skills, combined with a nose for news and close working knowledge of the media, I established a successful career in corporate communications, working both at an strategic and operational level to develop and deliver high-impact stakeholder communications.
This practical knowledge and skillset, gained over a 20 year period, has been the bedrock of my move into consultancy. For the last three years, eager to escape from behind a desk, and to drive added value from my experience, I have been working as a corporate and business communications consultant. I now provide guidance and support to larger organisations on a variety of communications projects, particularly around initiatives designed to drive change. Clients have included Siemens, Marks & Spencer, Barclays and Wolseley.
I am delighted to be associated with Helena Memory and her colleagues at Hedron. I share a passion with the Hedron team for exchanging stories and sharing best practice with other practitioners to help stimulate ideas and to develop more effective strategic and tactical solutions which maximise the value-add from communications spends. I am also determined that we must find a way to raise the status of corporate communications in boardrooms!
