Hedron People

Susan Walker
Communication and Employee Research Specialist

Being familiar with Hedron's highly researched communication consultancy work for some years, I am delighted to be associated with them. Our approaches have much in common in terms of aiming for practical, realistic outcomes and solutions.

Most of my working life has been in the field of Internal Communication for organisations like the Institute of Management, United Biscuits and Thomson Holidays.

This first hand experience helped me develop a successful action orientated research practice at MORI. As Head of HR Research, I directed people surveys for the BBC, Boots Group, HBOS, Consumers Association, Exel and Northern Foods among many others.

Now I am combining this understanding of both communications and research to focus on the measurement and evaluation of communication. I appreciate the importance of measuring all three equally. This means not only the Media but also the organisational Messages (upward, downward and lateral) as well as their Meaning which can influence behaviour for good or ill.

My approach has much in common with Hedron's in terms of aiming for practical, realistic outcomes and solutions.

I am also at one with their philosophy of being in tune with the latest communication thinking to inform and support effective advice and guidance. I have always found membership of the IABC (International Association of Business Communicators) useful. Find out more at www.iabc.com My experience in the communication field has been recognised by fellowship of Communication in Business and Accreditation from IABC.
